Build your Beachside Bliss stay around easy beach mornings, meals together and one or two outings. This guide covers the walk to the beach, what to pack and how to keep a flexible plan when weather changes.

Know the beach route before you arrive
Turn left as you leave the townhouse. About 50 feet along the sidewalk, you’ll see Dave’s across the street. Use the crosswalk there to reach our shared private beach entrance gate. You do cross a road to reach the beach. Keep children close and use the designated crossing.
We provide a beach wagon, chairs, an umbrella and basic beach toys. Pack sunscreen, hats, drinking water and any specialty gear your family needs. Don’t assume supplied flotation toys replace appropriate safety equipment or supervision.
Arrival day: settle in and keep it simple
Check-in is at 4 PM. Plan groceries and an easy first dinner rather than a tightly timed outing. Park one car in the designated space marked “4.” A second car may use an unmarked open space when available; the unit has a two-car maximum.
Both bedrooms and the two full bathrooms are upstairs, with a half bath on the entry level. A crib/Pack ’n Play and baby gates are available. If stairs or sleeping arrangements are important to your group, review the photos and ask us before booking.
Day 1: beach morning, slower afternoon
Make your first full day a beach day close to the home. Check the current flags and lifeguard guidance before entering the water, then return for lunch and a break whenever your group needs one. Sea conditions change, and a calm-looking surface is not a safety guarantee.
For a different beach outing, consider Henderson Beach State Park, with dunes, boardwalk access and picnic facilities. Reserve ahead if driving in: vehicle day-use reservations are required under the park’s current program. Pedestrians and cyclists have different entry arrangements. Check the park’s reservation FAQ and alerts before leaving. The playground was listed as closed when this guide was checked.
Day 2: choose a harbor outing
A dolphin cruise, if the weather suits
Southern Star’s narrated dolphin cruise offers a different view of Destin from the water. Dolphins are wild, so sightings are never guaranteed. Allow extra time for traffic, parking and check-in, and read the operator’s current FAQ before booking.
This is a weather-dependent outing, not a storm-day backup. Consider motion sensitivity, shade, restrooms and boarding needs. The operator states that its main deck accommodates manual wheelchairs, while motorized chairs and scooters do not fit its vessel. Ordinary pets are not admitted; trained service dogs are treated separately.
Pair it with HarborWalk
HarborWalk Village can fit before or after a cruise for waterfront views, food and optional amusements. Check the hours of individual businesses and the current parking charge. Much of the visit is outdoors, so choose a comfortable weather window and leave room in the budget for paid activities.
Rainy-day swap: hands-on exhibits
The Emerald Coast Science Center in Fort Walton Beach is a compact hands-on option for curious children. It has indoor and outdoor exhibits, so weather may limit part of the visit. Opening days differ by season; verify the schedule rather than assuming it is open every rainy day. Compare the current admission and access information with your family’s needs.
Or enjoy a slower day at the townhouse: cook, read, play a game you’ve brought and save the beach for better conditions. A boat trip should not become the fallback when lightning or severe weather is approaching.
Plan separately for pets
Beachside Bliss welcomes approved pets. Pet dogs are not allowed on Destin beaches, even on a leash; applicable service-animal exceptions are separate. Read the City of Destin’s beach rules and safety links and follow the rules posted at your access.
HarborWalk describes its outdoor grounds as pet-friendly, but individual restaurants and activities may differ. Henderson Beach State Park allows pets only in designated land areas, not on its beach. Plan suitable care for pet-free outings and never leave a pet in a parked vehicle.
